The Blue Nile Blog

The Blue Nile Blog was created as part of a Marketing Initiative to reach specific audiences focused on fashion and/or education. Tasked with discovering the best approach for both temporary off-site hosting and design, I began by researching blogging best practices and platforms. Based on the availability & low cost of WordPress, I recommended that we make use of a well known, highly customizable template as the foundation for our blog.

Further research informed our decisions to keep both the interface and the interactions simple and close to industry standard for e-commerce blogs. We allowed aspirational photography to be the hero of our articles, hosting images on our interal CDN to help reduce site speed.

After the blog was developed, I used Google Analytics tracking in an effort to understand which articles resonated with the target audience and showed higher levels of social sharing.
